United for Brownsville Project Management Intern

UB (United for Brownsville.), is seeking a highly motivated, detail oriented and organized individual for the part-time position of Project Management Intern. The Project Management Intern works as part of a senior team, under the direction of the Initiative Co-Directors, to assist in planning, preparation and execution of UB activities such as advisory board meetings and collaborative projects that emerge from them.

Note: This position is based in Brownsville, Brooklyn, NY and offers employment through Calendar Year 2020, pending grant funding.

MAJOR TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Responsibilities:
    • Meeting prep such as printing documents, compiling supplies, placing catering orders etc.
    • Taking meeting minutes
    • Assistance with meeting follow up including analysis and general debrief
    • Intern will be included in meeting planning and strategy development that flows from the content of meetings
  • Needed Availability: (All meetings below would need 1 hour of on site prep prior to the start of the meeting)
    • Family Advisory Board meetings: 2nd Thursday of every month from 6-8pm
      • Typically at Morris Koppelman Center, 774 Saratoga Ave, Brooklyn, NY 11212
    • Provider Action Team meetings: 1st Friday of every month from 1-3pm in Brownsville
      • Typically at GJC, 519 Rockaway Ave, brooklyn, NY 11212)
    • Leadership Council meetings: Held quarterly on 2nd Thursdays of that month, at member sites around the City
    • 2 hours/week for strategic planning/debriefs, to be done remotely or on site, as needed

EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS, MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS & CREDENTIALS:

  • Ability to establish rapport and work productively and sensitively with diverse stakeholders, community members and partners, including local parents.
  • Demonstrated capacity to analyze administrative, personnel and organizational problems and identify appropriate solutions.
  • Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing for professional and community audiences.
  • Prepare and maintain minutes, reports and records.
  • Communicate effectively verbally and in writing.
  • Knowledge of various word processing/computer programs, including Word, PowerPoint, Excel and etc.
  • Team-player and self-starter.
  • Ability to travel, work flexible hours including evenings and weekends.
